It started with Mum's podi
I've been eating podi rice my whole life. My mother makes it, her mother made it, and there's a version of it in every South Indian kitchen. It's one of those foods that feels like home no matter where you are.
The protein problem
When I started paying attention to my nutrition, I realized most Indians โ including me โ were eating far less protein than we needed. The options felt impossible: protein supplements tasted artificial, and cooking chicken, eggs, or paneer properly, every day, without getting bored? That's where it always fell apart. Travel made it even worse โ the moment you're on the road, whatever routine you'd built just disappears. Nobody was upgrading the everyday food we already love.
The question that started everything
"What if podi could be my protein source?" That was it. I eat it pretty much every day anyway. It has peanuts, chilli, garlic โ real ingredients you already recognise. We worked with a food scientist and a culinary expert, so we knew exactly how to boost it with clean whey concentrate without touching the taste or the recipe's soul.
